Welcome to Hidden Lotus Yoga!
The practice of Yoga provides the tools to look deep within yourself to find and realize your true Self. The practice of Yoga started thousands of years ago as an oral tradition passed from teacher to student. The ancient Indian sage Patanjali took this oral tradition into the written word thousands of years ago and created the classic yogic text know as the Yoga Sutras, which is a collection of 195 sutras (aphorisms) in four chapters. The Yoga Sutras are basically the guidebook on how to find your way into your Self and unite with the Divine.
Through practicing the eight-fold path of Yoga, the connection begins between
~ the mind & the body
~ the subtle & the tangible
~ the Self & the Divine
The eight-fold path is described in the Yoga Sutras as:
~ Yama - Ethical Disciplines
~ Niyama - Self & Spiritual Disciplines
~ Asana - Care & Discipline of the Body
~ Pranayama - Mastery of the Breath
~ Pratyahara - Sensory Withdrawl
~ Dharana - Concentration of the Mind
~ Dhyana - Meditation & Contemplation
~ Samadhi - Connection to the true Self
The practice of Yoga is for everyone and can be done by anyone - no matter your age, limitations [physical or otherwise], or beliefs.
